ACTION FOR CHILDREN
THE TIMEWARP

1.
As part of its 140th birthday celebrations, Action for Children wanted to increase its profile and extend its influence outside traditional support groups. It aimed to generate online and offline conversations about the issues it supports. A high profile, Rocky Horror-themed 'dance off ' on the Fourth Plinth in London's Trafalgar Square offered the perfect platform.
2.
Octopus brought together online influencers and communities, bloggers, local dance schools, choreographers and colleges to support the event, get people talking, tweeting and, most important of all, taking part. Teaming up with Funk Physics dance studio a fun online video "broke down the moves," and made sure the public was primed to perform.
3.
Online chatter spiked in the lead up to the event and over 600 members of the public joined dancers to 'Do the Time Warp' across Trafalgar Square. Reams of comments, photos and videos were recorded online - even Harry Potter's Neville Longbottom got involved! To date the Funk Physics and AfC video has received over 40,000 YouTube views.
