Cisco "Customer Kings" campaign
Cisco is one of the world's most well-known tech companies, but needed help building its profile outside big business. So it asked Octopus to develop a campaign that would make the Cisco brand relevant to entrepreneurs, small business owners and the public at large.

Octopus formed a media partnership with Real Business magazine and together started a national search for 'customer kings' - businesses that were creating killer customer relationships to help get them through the economic downturn. We set up a judging panel that included entrepreneurs, national newpaper journos and business leaders from Cisco itself, and chose outstanding performers in several categories. Winners were announced in a special Real Business supplement and via social media.

At the same time, we commissioned original research to study the real value of good customer service to SMEs, helping to boost Cisco's credibility with small business owners.

The result: 60 pieces of SMB, national, tech and trade coverage; 52 local radio interviews and features; 65,000 page impressions; and five vodcasts with the winners distributed via the web and social media. As a result of this activity, Cisco's spokesperson was the most quoted in UK for that quarter.
