Here at Octopus Group we marked London 2012 by
cheering on the Olympic torch, celebrating
the Opening Ceremony in style, and
counting medal after medal won by Team GB. Not satisfied with
these efforts alone, we Octopedes took part in a series of physically
demanding 'offs' and an Olympic quiz (featuring such mentally
rigorous tests as 'Guess the Olympic groin').
Last Friday, the winning team took a trip to
Lee Valley White Water Centre, site of Baillie and Stott's
golden triumph in the Canoe Slalom.

Experience levels were low - the closest most of the crew had
been to white water rafting was the Rumba Rapids at Thorpe Park -
but confidence was high.

Wall after wall of white water smashed into the raft, but sheer
guts and an inflated sense of pride for our country's medals
carried us down the course. As you can see in these photos, we
laughed a lot more than we capsized, but when we did capsize, we
did it in spectacular fashion.
